I keep having to tear down extremely predatory/misleading Scien.tology flyers in my school's art building. This is the third fucking time I've ripped the fuckers up and I'm getting Real Fucking Tired of it.

If you see shit like this DO NOT call the number, do not do anything to interact with these fucking people. Take down the posters if you're able to. They do NOT want to help you. They are a literal fucking cult who openly despise psychology and any actual proven mental health science, and are actively trying to trick mentally/emotionally vulnerable people into joining.

The red flags here are "Hubbard," the name of their founder, and "dianetics," the crackpot theory they teach for "auditing" your sins from your past lives.

I’d like to add what @jaspertheshark said in the tags because I feel it’s important

"The trannies should be able to piss in whatever toilet they want and change their bodies however they want. Why is it my business if some chick has a dick or a guy has a pie? I'm not a trannie or a fag so I don't care, just give 'em the medicine they need."

"This is an LGBT safe space. Of COURSE I fully support individuals who identify as transgender and their right to self-determination! I just think that transitioning is a very serious choice and should be heavily regulated. And there could be a lot of harm in exposing cis children to such topics, so we should be really careful about when it is appropriate to mention trans issues or have too much trans visibility."

One of the above statements is Problematic and the other is slightly annoying. If we disagree on which is which then working together for a better future is going to get really fucking difficult.

I think this is something young people in particular are confused about. My dad has always had a slightly off color sense of humor, he always feels the need to privately ask me “boy turned girl or girl turned boy?” if I mention a friend and stress said friend’s pronouns, and yet when we had repair work done in the house and the worker was listening to a podcast discussing the evils of transgender people and how to cleanse society, he went out of his way to contact the owner of the business to discuss his disappointment with that worker’s conduct and stress the negative effect that could have had if there had been trans kids in our home.

Our allies will never be perfect. They will never use the perfect language or have the perfect politics. But we have to appreciate those allies and meet them where they are, especially if they are willing to learn.

This might be out of my lane as a cis person but I feel like androgyny as a concept is very white (and thin tbh) because nonbinary POC (especially if they're Black) are always gonna be forcibly gendered as (and like assumed to be) "man" or "woman" against their will no matter what because white people cannot conceive of, and refuse to even consider, the idea that POC could be trans and/or nonbinary

beserkerjewel

Transness as a whole is treated like a whites only club and it's painfully obvious and also very in line with how white people operate

two quotes from this piece by da'shaun l harrison i think rlly connect to these ideas

"In the past few years, violence against Black trans women has become hypervisiblized. In response, many people have seemingly taken on the mantle of performative advocacy and activism to prove their commitment to trans liberation. However, because it is but a performance, trans women are forced to experience heightened scrutiny, visiblized rising death tolls, and being made into a spectacle. And while their plight becomes more visible, cis-lings find more ways to invisiblize nonbinary trans people. When you exist in a fat and Black body, that violence only becomes worse. So people grow comfortable with being transphobic towards nonbinary people because the violence transgressed against our bodies has not yet been directly translated to Death—thus they cannot yet build social, political, and/or economic capital off of our lives."

and this

"Nonbinary is not just a buzzword. It is just as real of an identity as any other, and we are more than your diversity quota. For some, it is a third gender. For some, it is movement between the gender binary. For others, it is an attempt to position ourselves outside of gender altogether. We don’t have to show up white, thin, or androgynous—and androgyny does not have one universal look either. We take on different looks and many different forms. We shapeshift. Some “conform” and others are deviant. But we are not something to be packaged into your binaried language around gender. And when you see violence happening against us, name it directly. Because if transness, in its simplest form, is an all-encompassing term for people who do not [exclusively] identify with their assigned sex and/or gender, then nonbinary people are trans, too."

i also highly suggest this piece if u wanna read more abt this, specifically from a black fat nonbinary perspective (but keep in mind if u dont #get it, the target is for black & trans readers so)

Why do fantasy RPGs always equate becoming a demon and making deals with demons with being evil? What if I just like the aesthetic. Maybe my demon girl is good aligned. Maybe she's just in it for the sweet horns

If a demon told me to break laws of decency and defy the king's rule I would simply shake his hand as a fellow queer

want to make a declaration about my ethical disagreements with the christian gods but also this is just a silly fun post

It bugs me when people are unnecessarily mean. Like, you didn’t have to make that comment. You could have just kept your mouth shut and left that person not feeling bad about themselves. What do you gain from making someone else feel like shit? Nothing of substance. Maybe a fleeting moment of power but that’s gone as soon as it comes so why? There’s enough unhappiness in the world without you adding to it.

Ok so I’ve been playing for 18 years and i’m a string teacher. Can i just say how IMPORTANT it is for young kids to see a BLACK, MALE-PRESENTING PERSON playing, nae, SHREDDING on a violin? I’ve know maybe 5 black people who played stringed instruments throughout my schooling and teaching (predumably because i’m an upper middle class white woman). In districts where the population is predominantly black, funding is always low, so the instruments are crappy. Kids quit, or the program is dismantled. I’ve seen very few professional string players who are black.

Obviously there are black string players. We just don’t see them because they “don’t look like” string players.

This person is the real deal. They were clearly classically trained, and seems to have some fiddle training as well. How cool is that?
